# Honeypot Scanner: Check a Token Before You Buy

> Scan any token address for sell blocks, hidden taxes, and traps before you launch around it.

A **honeypot** is a token that lets people buy but stops them from selling. If you launch around a honeypot, your wallets buy in — and can never get out.

BundleZeus checks for this automatically, and it's free.

## Where to find it

The scanner is built into **step 1 of the [launch setup](https://bundlezeus.com/app/launch)**. Paste any token address and the check runs on its own — you don't have to turn it on.

## What it looks for

* **Sell blocks** — can a normal holder actually sell, or is selling blocked, taxed into the ground, or limited to a special list of addresses?
* **Hidden or changeable taxes** — taxes much higher than advertised, or owner powers that can crank the tax up to 100%
* **Dangerous owner powers** — the ability to create more tokens, block wallets, pause trading, or mess with balances
* **Trading status** — whether trading is actually on, and which button turns it on

## What you get

A clear verdict on the token, plus a list of any risky powers it found. If the scanner flags something, you decide what to do:

* **Walk away** (usually the right move for a token you don't control)
* **Continue anyway** — fine if you own the token and know why it flags, but the warning stays on screen so you can't ignore it by accident

<Warning>
  If you're launching around a token you didn't write, treat any honeypot warning as a stop sign. The scanner plus the [test run](/guides/simulate-bundle) catch the vast majority of traps — but no tool can promise a token is 100% safe.
</Warning>

## Three layers of protection

The scanner is one of three safety nets:

1. **Honeypot scan** — checks the token the moment you paste the address
2. [**Test run**](/guides/simulate-bundle) — replays your real launch and shows if buys or sells would fail
3. **All-or-nothing design** — if the token acts differently at launch time, the whole thing is cancelled instead of half-running
